domains pricing is crazy

Happy Valentines day so being bored at home I was searching for a domain to register and it appears everything I tried is taken and the sellers are asking ridiculous prices. Who is paying those mad asking prices?

have you tried the "for sale" section of this forum ? some people are having fire sales, trying to get rid of names. and people might accept less than what they are asking

You can find plenty of decent reg-fee domains for sale on the boards. If you want something groovy, short or catchy it will be taken and expensive ... unless you can live with one of the new extensions (i wouldnt recommend it, .com still puts you way ahead - I´d rather have keywordkeyword.com than keyword.xyz )

for one word domains I can understand but I have seen some that are not even worth registration fee and they ask thousands

Sure, like in most markets there will be sellers with unrealistic expectations ... though, sometimes a weak looking domains has a history, incoming quality links etc to justify a higher price than the name itself.

High price domains do not get listed that often people who want them and have the means contact the seller.

Dot com's are becoming scarce to register so if you need a good name you will end up paying for one
