I'm back in the dating scene and not sure how to explain what I do to a woman on our first date, what do you suggest.
Usually I'll say that I'm a webmaster, then later I bring up that it's in the adult industry. But, a few times when I bring it up, the girl says something like "Oh cool, you're a porn star?".. lol

Hard to say because when I was single I was not in adult.
just be honest - unless you don't want to have a 2nd date and you're only in it to get lucky
Internet sales is how I label my business, not a lie in anyway and I leave it at that. If they ask what I tell them it has been a long day how about we talk about you. It has worked ok for me on dates.

G'day guys,
This is a fun topic and I've had some different experiences. Usually when being introduced I say I'm a 'computer nerd', if they want specifics I talk server admin or database talk and their eyes quickly glaze over and don't ask any further questions.
Once a few years ago I was hanging out with an old friend in San Francisco. This guy and I do some mainstream business together and we talk shop and he knows exactly what my business is in porn. We went out for dinner and his wife lined me up with one of her friends as my 'date' . Sitting around and my date asks what I do. I was about to give my usual answer when my mate chimes in and says "Dave, runs gay porn sites."
I was a little taken back but not offended in any way. Turned out to be a great conversation starter and we had a hoot with it. Four us ended up at the Lookout (famous gay nightclub in San Fran) and the jokes were all about how I had to get the bill because they were 'my people' and it was great fun. Pre-covid I'd spend maybe a month over the year in San Fran with my mate and my 'date' is now my usual 'date' when I'm in the city and she thinks it is great and introduces me as the 'gay porn guy'.
Over the years I have been pretty discrete no there isn't much (if anything) publicly connecting me to my porn business. I'd still like to keep it that way, never know what my business future holds in store.

Been in the industry since 2001 so something must be working since the bills are paid.

I tell them what i do if they don't like it tough for them.
years back when I met my hubby, we started talking about work and my reply to what do you do was I am working in online marketing. He is an engineer and was not much an internet person 24 years ago so it was easy to skirt around the adult issue on the first date.
